Welcome to UNI Project

The Unified Network Infrastructure (UNI) project aims to develop a prototype of an unified, open and free network infrastructure based on Network Function Virtualization technology (NFV) that offer an innovative communication service, with processing and storage capabilities. The project adopts the Open source Platform for Network Function Virtualization (OPNFV) for agility and low CAPEX and OPEX purposes. We expect as a project outcome a cloud environment, accessed and interconnected by the Internet, agnostic to the location of physical machines and able to offer virtual network management and security facilities such as firewalls, traffic characterization tools, and intrusion detection systems.

Future Internet

for Smart Cities

The Brazilian National Science and Technology Institute (INCT) Program has ambitious and comprehensive goals in national terms as the possibility of mobilizing and aggregating, in an articulated way, the best research groups in frontier areas of science and in strategic areas for the sustainable development of the country; to promote basic and fundamentally competitive international scientific research; to stimulate the development of advanced scientific and technological research associated with applications to promote innovation and entrepreneurship, in close coordination with innovative companies.

The Future Internet will integrate large-scale systems constructed from the composition of thousands of distributed services, while interacting directly with the physical world via sensors and actuators, which compose the Internet of Things. The National Science and Technology Institute (INCT) of the Future Internet for Smart Cities addresses research challenges and initiatives in three fronts:
i) Networking and High-Performance Distributed Computing;
ii) Software Engineering for the Future Internet;
iii) Analysis and Mathematical Modeling for the Future Internet and Smart Cities.
The INCT is coordinated by Fabio Kon (USP) and vice-coordinated by Otto Carlos M. B. Duarte (UFRJ).

Infrastructure

GTA/UFRJ

Lab

We aim high at being focused on building relationships with our students and community. GTA/UFRJ provides training and services in the area of Communication Systems. The training is aimed at professionals in the areas of Informatics and Telecommunications, such as project managers, designers, analysts, engineers and end users.

The goal is to present these professionals as more new technologies. In addition, it uses its vast experience in the field of consulting, design, implementation, management and maintenance of teleinformatics systems.
