The RAT software is composed by a DoS attack simulation tool, a modified Linux Kernel (Linux-rat-2.6.10) and an user-space daemon (RATd). The first component is used to simulate a DoS attack by sending a packet with spoofed source address. The second one makes personal computers working as routers able to perform the marking procedure described in subsection 1.1.1. The daemon RATd performs the reconstruction procedure described in subsection 1.1.2. The RAT software is available at
